Bob Frischmann, who has served as the sports information director at STLCC-Meramec for the past 10 years, has not been re-hired for his 11th year in the job for STLCC athletics. Frischmann becomes one of many personnel not returning after the consolidation of athletics across all STLCC campuses, earlier this year.

Frischmann originally applied for the job after seeing an ad in the newspaper back in 2001. Since then, his drive to sell Meramec sports to the local media, while competing with the professional ranks of the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues and St. Louis Rams, along with the Mizzou Tigers and St. Louis Bilikens, has put Meramec athletics on the map regionally and nationally. For the past 10 years, any time the Meramec Magic sports teams were in the news, it was because of Frischmann.

Frischmann began his professional career over 30 years ago as a television news writer and editor with KMOX-TV (Channel 4 News) in the early 1980s. He spent 14 years as a nationally award-winning high school journalism teacher. In 2002, the National Junior College Wrestling Coaches Association presented Frischmann with the Sports Media Award for his promotion of wrestling in the St. Louis media.

Most recently, Frischmann was inducted into the Magic Hall of Fame. Started in 1997, the Magic Hall of Fame was established to honor Meramec student-athletes, coaches and contributors who have had distinguished careers in intercollegiate athletics. He was one of four 2011 inductees and the last inductee ever into the Magic Hall of Fame.

During the fall 2011 semester, Frischmann will be teaching classes at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo.
