Meramec’s Busy Week Ahead

The first week back after Spring Break looks to be an “eventful” one on campus.

The first week back after Spring Break is full of events of all kinds to benefit students, and in some cases, to reward them for their hard work. Read on for a full list:

Monday, March 18:

Mock Interview Workshop: Join STLCC’s Academic, Career and Transfer Department for a Mock Interview Workshop “where you’ll have the opportunity to hone and apply essential soft skills needed for success in the workforce.”

This event, also being hosted on April 15, can be accessed in Room 123 of the Humanities East building, and will last from 11am-1pm.

AustimCon: Hosted by the Access Office from 3pm-5pm in the Lecture Hall building, this event celebrates those on the autism spectrum. Cosplay for the event is encouraged, and an RSVP is also encouraged.

Tuesday, March 19:

Soft Skills Career Workshop for the Workforce: Learn how to identify, develop, and enact soft skills in the workplace in Lecture Hall Room 102 from 1pm-2:30pm.

Wednesday, March 20:

Resume Workshop: Hosted by the Academic, Career and Transfer Department, students are encouraged to drop in Lecture Hall Room 101 with a resume for review with a student success advisor anytime between 1pm and 2:30pm. Please bring your laptop, copies of your resume, a job description you plan to apply for, and something to take notes.

Thursday, March 21:

Recruitment Visit | Waterway Carwash: This employer is looking to hire students on campus. Interested students can seek more information in the Science West lobby from 10am to 1pm.

Transferring 101 Series | How to Transfer and Transferring Tips: Emanating from Room 125 of the Student Center beginning at 10:00am, this event aims to help students prepare to transfer to their next college or university. Students can work with advisors to understand the courses that they may need to take, get the contact information for representatives from different schools and understand the process for applying and submitting transcripts. Food and beverages will be provided.

Barbie Movie and Conversation with Sahar Joakim: This event, which lasts from 2:30pm to 5:00pm in Lecture Hall Room 103, will feature a free presentation of 2023’s Barbie, to be followed by a discussion of the film led by Professor Sahar Joakim, Ph.D. This event, hosted by Campus Life, is part of a series of events commemorating Women’s History Month.

Recurring and Multi-Day Events:

College Visits in Science West Lobby: Students interested in transferring to either of these institutions or seeking additional information can stop by their table and meet with representatives in the Science West Building by the blue wall:

FAFSA Clinics: These events will be hosted several times in the coming weeks, usually from 11am to 2pm in Room 102A or 102B of the Applied Sciences building. These clinics offer students assistance filling out the FAFSA and any other necessary documents. This event will be hosted on the following days during the week:

MidTerm Check-In: As a part of this multi-day event hosted by Campus Life and other college departments, students can come to the Cafeteria and Student Center Quad to check your midterm grades, sign up for Fall 2024 classes, and get extra help and some food! This event will be hosted between 11am and 1pm on the following days:
