An untimely warmth is descending upon the St. Louis area, with temperatures having already hit close to 90 degrees. Now what better way to combat the blazing sun than with a big bowl of frozen yogurt?

Yogurtland is a cool, frosty oasis for those looking for a chill. It is a relatively simple-looking establishment with a front counter, some tables and chairs, a wall with ice cream machines in it and a self-serve buffet containing all the various toppings one can put on their frozen yogurt.

Yogurt flavors range from tropical treats, like pineapple guava and mango mixer and classic staples like vanilla and chocolate.

They even have coffee flavors like frappe, hazelnut and green tea. Yogurtland charges customers by the ounce, which may sound confusing and expensive but it really is not all that much. The rate is 33 cents per ounce, which is actually reasonable. After you choose your yogurt flavor, it is time to add the toppings.

Customers can put nearly whatever they want on their yogurt as far as toppings go. Feeling healthy? Go for the fruit options like pineapple chunks, cherries or coconut flakes. Looking to indulge? Yogurtland has a slew of different candies to throw on, including Skittles. Or if neither of those float your boat, you can get crazy and add things like Oreos, Fruity Pebbles or even Cap’n Crunch. The sky’s the limit. The combination of the pineapple guava and the mango twister flavors make a wonderfully tropic experience that is further enhanced by adding coconut flakes, pineapple chunks and sprinkles for color.

After customers are done creating their perfect frozen treat or sugary monstrosity, they take their bowl over to the counter and put it on a scale.

Yogurtland has stores all over the nation but the one closest to campus would be the one at 1530 S. Kirkwood Rd. They are open Sunday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
