Jacob Hight owes his involvement with the Montage to many people. In part he wished to follow the encouragement of two college professors to continue developing his writing. The pivotal inspiration came when he read an editorial written by collegiate journalist Jonathan Webb. It is to this journalist, most of all, Hight truly owes his experience at the Montage and intimate discovery of journalism. If Hight's column has been of any entertaining or substantial value to readers, he wishes readers to know it would not have existed without this seminal inspiration from Mr. Webb and any appreciation must be shared with him.
Hight had no academic interest in journalism before his application to the Montage staff. His primary hobbies, passions and interests lie in the creative arts, especially drawing , poetry and creative writing (also, math, biology and physics which he considers profound expressions of existential creativity). During middle school and high school High studied metaphysics, meditation and healing arts, which he feels edifies his editorials.
