Students, faculty and staff are invited to a live broadcast of the global launch of Adobe Creative Suite 5 on Monday, April 12 at 10 a.m. in the Confluence room of the library at STLCC-Meramec. This event will be hosted by Digital Arts and Technology Alliance (DATA) and the Center for Visual Technology (CVT.) Adobe software is used for instruction in many STLCC-Meramec departments, including communications and digital arts. Acting Manager of DATA, Scott Tjaden estimates that Adobe CS5 will be installed in the CVT classrooms and labs, as well as implemented into the curriculum either in the summer or fall 2010 semester. Tjaden advises that students keep up to date with technology. "It is changing so fast," Tjaden said. Students in the CVT have had 19 months to get used to CS4, officially released on Oct. 15, 2008. The date of release of CS5 will be announced sometime on April 12. It's new features will be demonstrated during the global launch. The preview of Adobe's new software will also be available on their website for registered viewers at http://cs5launch.adobe.com. Students who attend the campus event will be eligible to win door prizes.
