Members of the St. Louis community gathered for an international festival at STLCC-Meramec last month. The festival, sponsored by the International Club, featured a variety of singers, dancers, musicians and food from around the `world.

Vidyullata Waghulde, Ph.D., adviser for the International Club, said that the festival is an opportunity for students to learn from one another.

The two-day event featured several Meramec students from Russia, India, Mongolia, Pakistan and Korea, as well as professional Hawaiian, Indian and Colombian dancers that reside in the St. Louis area. Greek foods like hummus, shish-kabob and the Middle Eastern desert Baklava were provided.

“The main goal is to increase the culture and diversity on this campus which is very bare,” Waghulde said. “I think that’s why we are trying to do things that promote our culture and diversity so that maybe people can be more civil towards each other.”
