Holocaust survivor tells her story at Meramec
Until she was three, Felicia was a Jewish girl living in a ghetto in Warsaw, Poland. One day that changed. She could no longer be Jewish. She could no longer keep her birth name of Felicia Lederberger.
Class project becomes full-length film
When STLCC-Meramec student Ann Morrison was assigned a service learning project for her Honors Composition II class last semester, the goal of the project was to change the world. Instead of cleaning a park or holding a canned food drive, Morrison decided to expose the genocide of approximately 14 million ethnic Germans.
Students gathered for the district wide Club and Organization Leadership Training (COLT), which took place in the Student Center at STLCC-Meramec on Jan. 29 and 30.
The 37th annual March for Life held in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 22nd this year drew in more than 300,000 people, including STLCC-Meramec’s Circle of Life, an anti-abortion organization on campus.
At approximately 9:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 19, the STLCC board of trustees voted 4-2 in favor of closing the child care centers at both the Meramec and Forest Park campuses, effective July 1, 2010.
After 705 days of patiently waiting, using scenic routes, and losing valuable time, commuters in the St. Louis area celebrated the opening of Interstate 64 on Saturday, Dec. 6, by walking, running, bicycling, and dancing in the streets.
Kirkwood’s Dec. 3 city council meeting began with a crowd that completely filled the council’s chambers and left dozens of citizens standing, waiting for their voices to be heard. However, the first person that Arthur McDonnell, Kirkwood mayor, handed the microphone off to was not a disenchanted citizen, but Santa Claus.
STLCC-Meramec is sharpening the tip of the spear by making an addition to the Criminal Justice Program of the Law Enforcement Police Explorers.
On Nov. 18, 2009, Service Learning hosted the annual Empty Bowls Luncheon for Hunger Awareness month. Speakers from local food pantries attended and ceramic bowls created by Jim Ibur's ceramics class were sold for $10. All of the proceeds went to Operation Food Search.
STLCC-Meramec is aiding the charity organization New Eyes for the Needy by collecting used eyewear to be recycled for the use of those in need who have eye care needs.
