VP of student affairs, Stephen Petersen, no longer at STLCC-Meramec

As of March 1, 2010, Vice President of Student Affairs Stephen H. Petersen, Ed.D., is no longer employed at STLCC-Meramec. Campus President Paul Pai, Ed.D., confirmed that Petersen’s contract was not renewed. Petersen was hired the summer 2008 under a three-year probationary period.

Organization NO-pirg fights to remove MoPIRG registration fee

STLCC-Meramec students will vote on March 10 and 11 to reaffirm the presence of MoPIRG (Missouri Public Interest Research Group), an organization on campus comprised of students and interns who address issues like hunger and homelessness, public transit and global warming. The organization is reaffirmed or denied on campus every two years.

Student Governance Council MCCA Convention Seven students from STLCC-Meramec joined 83 other students from Missouri community colleges at the Missouri Community College Association (MCCA) convention in Jefferson City from Feb. 21-23. Students participated in team building exercises, participated in a mock trial, lobbied Missouri senators, and submitted proposals to the MCCA Student Government for amendments to the SGC constitution.

Instead of cleaning a park or holding a canned food drive, Morrison decided to expose the genocide of approximately 14 million ethnic Germans.

At approximately 9:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 19, the STLCC board of trustees voted 4-2 in favor of closing the child care centers at both the Meramec and Forest Park campuses, effective July 1, 2010.

Empty Bowls Luncheon

A luncheon of empty bowls

On Nov. 18, 2009, Service Learning hosted the annual Empty Bowls Luncheon for Hunger Awareness month. Speakers from local food pantries attended and ceramic bowls created by Jim Ibur's ceramics class were sold for $10. All of the proceeds went to Operation Food Search.

STLCC-Meramec is aiding the charity organization New Eyes for the Needy by collecting used eyewear to be recycled for the use of those in need who have eye care needs.
